One of the things I’ve discovered through teaching yoga over the last few years is the power of holding space for others – space that allows for honesty, for vulnerability, and truth.
I have learnt that when people come together and share the realities of their lives (rather than the highlights or only what they think is palatable to others), it creates a sense of safety that allows others to do the same. And through this, connection and support within communities grows.
My experiences have encouraged me to dive deeper into both learning about and experiencing for myself this kind of therapeutic space.
Over the last 3 years I have completed two counselling qualifications (and am returning to university this year to continue with my training), and have been a part of a number of circles – and what I have learned has proved to me that holding therapeutic space is work I am incredibly passionate about.
And so I have created The Still Space. It will run alongside (and in conjunction with) my offerings through Urban Balance Yoga. My intention is to grow what I can offer to hold space, support others, and grow communities.
Join us in these spaces for conversation, creativity and community.
Women’s journal circle
Sunday evenings, monthly 7-830pm
@ the Log Cabin, Beachlands
upcoming dates:
11th January 8th February 8th March
What is a journal circle?
Each session is a space to pause, journal and share in safe community. You’ll leave feeling grounded, seen, and gently reconnected with who you are.
In each circle we will start with a relaxation practice. I’ll then offer guided prompts on the evening’s topic or theme, before giving you the space to put pens or paintbrushes to paper, to explore these in any way you would like - whether by writing, drawing, or just putting colour on a page while you reflect.
There will be chances to chat and connect with like minded women within our local community, both through the session and as our circle comes to a close.
Sharing is always optional, and whatever is shared in circles stays in circles.
No journalling or ‘creative’ experience is necessary. Show up exactly as you are.
